I work with old photographic techniques such as cyanotype, Van Dyke brown, albumen, and silver salt prints. Cyanotype is one of the oldest 19th-century techniques (invented in 1842 by Sir John F. W. Herschel) and appeals to me most because it offers great freedom to create expressive colors while simultaneously adhering to the limited color palette of the natural beauty of dried and cooked plants and herbs. I enjoy creating these magical blends and experimenting while developing the negatives of my own photos and designs. I also have a printed X-ray scan that I used as a negative - it pushes the boundries. Photography and analogue printing techniques, in a broader sense, are what fascinate me. I avoid constraints. I value process over predictability. I like dialogue between eras.
